Wow, I can't believe the last time I've blogged ( i swore i'd never use that word, so i won't)...the last time I've talked to u guys was last year. 365 days have just flew by. So much has happened, they all seem like yesterday.
First and foremost, I'd like to share my thoughts on an incident that I think will still be fresh in all our minds. Christmas weekend, disaster struck; an earthquake erupted, great waves were triggered and they moved @ great speed towards civilisation. They hit land. Tragedy. Lives were lost, hearts were shattered. Its been a week, the recovery has hardly started. Thousands are now looking down from heaven, more are lying in sickbeds awaiting treatmen, others are wading through mud, helplessly searching. Death, mourning, darkness, fretting, screams, tears, helplessness...they are surrounded. And yet, here I am, sitting in the comfort of my home, typing away. I have everything they don't have. What does that make me? I'm a queen living in my luxurious palace.
I can do something, I can give cash, and so can you. Its been heartwarming to see people all over the world and especially Singapore giving so generously. I was shocked when I first saw the amount the government pledged, 2M. That is such a miserable lot. But then, the people are so much better. Hopefully, this won't die down, collections will continue until things are stable. God bless them.
Ok, that business is done. Heres the end of my holidays. I won't bore you with details, suffice to say I had nice bbqs and christmas. Homework was started the day before new year's eve and is still being persued.
New year's countdown was the best. Esplanade, Corrinne May, a minutes silence. And there was rain. Some of you might have thought "how dreary...", but think again. Rain washes away all the unhappiness, all the suffering and mishaps. All washed away. After rain would come a rainbow. Of course, it wa night, so no sun, so rainbow. But anyway, the after rain is HOPE. Hope for the new year, hope for salvation, for peace. Yep.
Next on the list, Corrinne May's performance. Her first set was cancelled because of the rain. Instead, she did her soundcheck then, even that was so good it garnered applause. The shows were delayed 3 hours. But I guess its just as well, the rain helped in the toning down in view of recent events. I got her autograph and a photo with her during the delay. Talk about blessings in disguise! Anyway, she simply GREAT! Her live performance definitely beats her CD. Talk about soul, she simply sings emotion; you'll laugh, smile and cry with her. A company would make big bucks if one signs her, and I'll be one of those who'll be able to say, "I loved her when no one knew her."
All the best to all for 2005
you know you love me
ciao
