Was walking out from tuition at 9+, and we saw Jancy walking INTO school! Like what on earth is she doing in school at that hour?!
Haha, then we started talking about how she resembles Mrs Chan, or maybe its the other way round. Both have the same style of walking, both slouch a little, both are so skinny and tan, both like to wear high high heels...ya, haha.

Sobx. We didn't win soccer...We drew 1-1 with SAJC. It was such a heart attacking match. Everytime SA had a chance of scoring, all Victorians' hearts stopped. And the best thing is, when they finally scored the opening goal, we were just shell-shocked. No one was expecting it. It was a sorang goal somemore! Everyone's eyes were on the other side of the field, and when the ball rolled into the net, all heads turned slowly towards our goal and eyes blinked in disbelief. That was about 20 minutes to full-time. But VJ has never lost a single match in a long long time, and we weren't about to. Roars of "Go VJ!" could be heard in a cresendo all the way at Neptune Court. We scored our equalizer with a corner. I must say though we had PLENTY of lost opportunities, our boys played a really good game. It was so sad to see them so sad at the end of the game. So sad to hear Charles say "We're sorry we didn't win the match for you..." But nevermind, we'll win the next one! WoohoO! ViVaLaVictoria!
Oh yes! It was so irritating! The 'saints' soccer boys were just falling and rolling all over our field! Whats their problem la!

I'm like going back in time today. Starting from the end.
So, the start of the day. Lessons lor. Whats there to say about lessons? Honestly, naught.
Oh, maybe I can boast about the work I've done? Ya, not bad la. Did quite some things.
Labour Day tomorrow!
Time to mug!
Whee!
Lol.

The something smart I said in the warm-up session didn't seem so smart on air afterall! sigh.
let me tell you about it.

This morning, I attended this live radio show. It was this radio show that goes from campus to campus to hold forums on various topics that goes on air live.
Station: 93.8
Topic: How relevant are the courses offered in Junior Colleges today?
We had a very interesting and panel of highly esteemed people; we were really a priviledged lot to have that kind of panel.
1) Mrs Wee (from vjc, okay, not that impressive la)
2) Prof. Kirpal Singh (Prof. @ SMU)
3) Ms. Ho Peng (Director of CDPP @ MOE [very impressive])
4) Dr. Tony Buzan (creator of Mindmaps)
5) Ms. Vanessa Fernadez (the only reason why she was on the panel was cause she's been through both JC and polytechnic curriculum)

So, before we went on air, we had this warm-up session. And as with any other typical Singaporean crowd, everyone keeps their mouth tightly shut in the beginning of such sessions. And of course, the result of such things is that someone gets arrowed to say something. As luck would have it, the producer passed the microphone to this girl who couldn't be less eloquent. She was saying such nonsense, and everyone was thinking in their heads "omg...what is she saying?! this is soo embarrassing!" So, after she finished talking, the host asked if anyone would like to say anything else. So I decided to be the heroine and save the day! I raised my hand, took the mic and said something really smart compared to what the girl had said. It was more of a 'damage-control-smart' kinda smart.
Soon after that, we went on air. So, having been kaypo and being the only one who said anything that could be considered smart, I was asked to repeat what I had just said on air. The only problem was, there wasn't any prelude to what I was going to say! So it was just my opinion of students having to take a contrasting subject out of no where!
On hindsight, I could have added a bit about how although I appreciate having to take a contrasting subject, I am aware that many people are actually having difficulties coping with it, and maybe even throw in a question about whether students can have a choice about it, rather than having it being a mandate.
But whats done, done, I can only learn from it.

As for the rest of the forum, 2 things especially stuck with me:

1) Prof. Kirpal Singh said that in an entrance interview, if a candidate was asked how he would make subjects taught less dry, and the candidate answered "just make it more wet", he would immediately take the student.
(this was in response to a question about the relevance of KI)
But to me, I feel that such an answer doesn't show that a candidate is creative or thoughtful. Rather, it shows that he is 'lame'. Maybe it won't be so bad if a candidate further elaborates on how he plans to 'wet' the subjects, but just by saying "make it more wet" itself, I don't think it garners an immediate placement. It's actually quite retarded.

2) Dr. Tony Buzan said that daydreaming is good. In fact, we should daydream all the time. But what differentiates the geniuses from the others, is whether or not they make their daydreams come through.

Another interesting thing that Dr. Buzan said:
Leonardo da Vinci once said that we should study the art of science and the science of art.
This having been said, we would all agree that everything is linked.
And if we were interested in a certain subject, because everything is linked, it would imply that we were INTERESTED in EVERYTHING.
So people, everytime you think that something is boring, start psychoing yourself with that.

I thought Ms. Ho Peng did a very good job of explaining the decisions of her department. She kinda emits an aura of authority about her too. A woman in a very high up place. Haha. Which more or less applies in a literal sense too.

Many of the questions my fellowschool mates asked, were, I thought wasted questions.
Some issues were pretty superficial, which could have been simply brought up with teachers or someone else. With such a distinguished panel, we could have given more time to better thought out questions and queries.

When time was finally up, I thought of a smart question.
There had been so much talk about JC cirriculum preparing students for jobs, exposing students to different sectors of industries. But many subjects are very broad based, and only certain topics have been picked to be in the cirriculum. Are we structuring the cirriculum based on Singapore's needs (exposing students to the side of a subject that is more relevant to Singapore [eg. molecular biology instead of human organs]) or really trying to let a student have a feel about what a particular subject has to offer and to really expose him to the options out in the world.

Alright, I shall end here with the above for you to sleep on :D

Woohoo! I'm back to having a thousand and one things to do!

1) Do German notice board heading
2) Do VJC German course notes *urgent*
3) Do SMUN position paper
-read up about RUSSIA! (of all places!)
-dream up ideas on their policies
4) Do German Coursework *semi-urgent*
-do research
-complete writing
5) Produce "In the Repair Shop" *important*
-analyse script
-choose actors
-think about costumes/make-up
-rehearse
6) Do all my tutorials *necessary*
7) Prepare for Mid-years (MUST do well lor!)
8) Plan CIP for Med Soc *urgent*
9) Prepare speech for tomorrow! *URGENT*

Well, okay, its not a thousand and one, but it's still a hell lot.
Not that I'm complaining though, they are all wonderful things to do.
Number 6 and 7 will never be done had I had a lot of time on my hands. So I should be thankful for being busy.
Just yesterday we were discussing about how you actually study better if you're busy.
There's more sense of urgency and you're more focused. As compared to when you've all the time in the world.

okie, thats it!
wish me luck!

Gold with honours: 2
GOLD: 19
Silver: 25
Bronze: 40
COP: 23

That is the medal tally for SYF Drama Secondary.
That means, even a boderline Silver would have gotten a school into the 68th percentile.
So I'm very surprised and impressed at CCHMS' results.
A sparkling silver indeed!
wow...what else can i say...simply...wow...

I wanted to write about alot of things yesterday, but then didn't get down to it.
It was another eventful day :)
We got half day! Got off at 11am, cause of the wonderful job our cross-country team did!
Did some kick-boxing thingie for PE!
Super tiring! Haven't done such things for ages! Seemed uber cheesy at first, but once u got down to it it wasn't that bad.
Met YiWei with Eileen for lunch. Had a great 3 hrs!
Thaipan, Beach.
Went back to school for soccer match.
T'was the best match of the season!
AJ was good, and VJ was on form, so it was a very exciting match :D
AJ's no. 16 was really good, and he kept tailling our striker!
He's really fast, so I guess he tires easily and they took him out after the first half.
Whoohoo! And in the 2nd half we scored 3 goals in 10 minutes!!!
Fantastic game!!!

Got my retainers today.
SO UNCOMFORTABLE!
Can't speak properly!
Went for appt with Herr S at 2.30
Went to esplanade to look for scripts to torture some lucky kids with.
Went back to moelc. Helped frau heng at the notice board.

What an eventful day!
I woke up early in the morning and jumped out of bed.
Reached school, dumped my bag in the canteen and walked out of school :D

HCI: CCHMS EDS SYF (The silly little girl and the funny old tree)

I was greeted by an appalling sight as I ascented the last step of the stairs. Little monguls sitting on the floor, surrounded by little minders who fussed over them.
I dumped my stuff with my 2 personal assistants and set right to work.

"Wheres the foundation?
Wheres the sponge?
Come here.
Tilt your head."
And that was how it went until they were scheduled to go down. I must say I was quite pleased with the repairs I did to some atrocious looking faces.
When we were finally called backstage, I had my hands full trying to calm a silly little girl who was panicking over her 'misplaced' sling bag as it slipped her mind that she would be entering from the other side of the stage.
Seeing nothing else to poke my nose into, I retired to the back of the auditorium. The scene that greeted my eyes was that of a ill-manged workplace. A flustered supervisor being snappy at her workers, giving unclear instructions and being upset because her dense workers were slow to comprehend them. A supervisor who 'forgot' to delegate the work and ran everywhere in order to oversee everything. 2 other observers looking on, wondering where the best spot to view all the action was.
At last, show time arrived. And the show was over in all but 20 minutes.
No doubt there were a couple of cock ups, there was some awkward moments, it was lousy english as usual, but I must give them all their due credit for a good job done. They did their best with the directions they were given and no one can fault them for disobedience.
We'll just hope that other schools didn't do fantastically :D
Oh yes, I really must give the BEST award to Shermin!!! Congratulations Shermin! You were great! You were to the performance, what a twinkle is to the eye :D
Had a nice zzz on the bus back to school. Hopped over the red gate, ran to hide myself in the crowd.
Turf City: National Schools Cross Country Meet
I got cheated to walk up 6 stories!!! We were told to walk up 6 stories, only to be told to put down our bags and then walk back down again! GRRRRR!!! And I had to leave early for German! When I realised that, I looked around for Shannon to get him to climb up to get my bag for me (since andreas so gentlemanly refused to do that). Unfortunately he was sick!!! Sigh...but fortunately, my nice OG member got my bag for me :D There are nice fellows in VJ! Thanks alot Joseph! :D
[too lazy to write properly now]

new red shirts didn't know the beat.

Yay! I found out what the beautiful encore the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory played on Saturday was. Its Pomp & Circumstance Marches, Op.39: No.1 in D by Elgar.
The straites times said that no one could have played it with more pride. I quite quite agree. They really played it beautifully and with alot of heart.
I wished it had been recorded. They won't play it another time the same way. There will never be another first batch graduating and there will never be another final concert for the first graduating batch.
I shall just hope that the memory of the beautiful performance will linger in my mind for a long time to come.
AHHH, i won't get to see/hear Ye Lin anymore!
Ahh!!! Her recital was in January!!! GRRR!!!!!!

WooHoo! VJC Soccer totally rox :D
We won our first match of the season against HCI with a score of 1-0 this afternoon!!!
The event that half of the school has been looking forward to since the start of this year was finally here today.
I went home and came all the way back to school, and stayed there for 2 hrs of the late afternoon to cheer our wonderful soccer team on in their first match of the season.

The first half was a total disappointment. The red (now they have become maroon) shirts were hopeless, the players were kicking the ball into empty space to no person in particular, the spectators were bored to death!
trivia:
-2 ( i think) hci players rolled on the ground, 1 lay there for super duper long
-TYH was almost pulling his hair out

Thank God things picked up in the second half. Maroon shirts were more effective, our boys played better and we scored a GOAL! *pheeeee* goes the whistle, and up jumps all victorians :D
Haha, I was quite amused at how amused the J1 were that we sang the school song after the match.
Trivia:
-TYH made a beautiful catch for the ball when someone kicked it out and was cheered
-number 7 came on and played beautifully agressively
-captain number 9's style of playing was almost identical to last year's captain (Keeth)
-number 7 fell to the ground with a cramp just as the last whistle sounded
-tweedle only showed his face in the last 10 minutes and kept his mouth tightly shut while we blasted the victorian anthemn

Tuition today was fun :D

ps: I don't love you anymore, I have never loved you anyway.

I had such a wonderful day :D

Okay, maybe the morning wasn't so wonderful. I had to drag myself out of bed, dress, gulp down a mouthful of yoghurt drink and get myself to NUS. Only to be made to feel self-conscious cause I was one of the few not in uniform and made fun of my a surprisingly 'unnice' mr teo. not to forget being bored to death of course. my moderator is the worst of all! why didn't i get some nice quirky funny fellow?! grrr

oh well, that was my 'interesting' morning. that was followed by a nice lunch with papa at this spanish restaurant at clarke quay :D

After that was Acsian theatre West Side Story. I must say it was good. Ah, it had to be, considering it was a school production and they spent $30 000 and are charging people at least $32! I was pretty impressed with the production. Deanna was stunning! The vocals were good and acting was quite top notch.

But the highlight of the evening was really the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (aka yong tau fu) orchestra concert.
Before that, I brought Tony on a nice walking tour of the marina area. We walked from SRT to clarke quay (where we discovered plenty of fantastic places), from clarke quay to the merlion and from there to esplanade :D
There, I saw Mrs Soh and all the VJ A level music class people. Debbie n Fgg were there for phantom too!

The concert was one that brought both tears and laughter.
The Tschaikovsky variation was really really enjoyable. Qin Li Wei was really cute. The piece was kinda like suitable for some kinda courtship. And the way he played, it was like:
-Looked at conductor (Wang Ya Hui) while playing, "i love you darling..."
-Play some cheeky/playful sounding lines, looked at Ye Lin (concert mistress, fantastic violinist!) while playing, "hey girl, how are ya? i'm good eh ;)" *winks winks*
-Looks back at conductor, gives funny expressions, then stares at her, "yes darling? you have a problem with me looking at young girls? i love you, you're still charming..."
this then continues for some time. twas really hilarious and entertaining. I guess this is one of the main differences between listening to a piece thats recorded on a CD and seeing it performed live.

Prof Qin then did 3 encores! all lovely.

The last piece was Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet. Another super entetaining piece.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the conductor is beautiful to watch. Her conducting is so elegant yet concise. Its lovely to watch her conduct. She exudes the aura of a power woman, yet a woman with alot of nu ren wei.

The encore the conservatory orchestra did was lovely too! someone had better tell me the name of the piece soon. its too familiar...grr :p

The best thing was, as we were walking out of the concert hall, I was this familiar face. I nudged jiayi and kinhang to point out the face. All our jaws dropped and we stared like retards. Rear Admiral Teo Chee Hean saw us and started a conversation with us. I quickly remembered to shut my mouth and hopefully I appeared intelligent. Lol.

After the concert I attempted to look to Ye Lin to take a picture with her. That girl is gonna make it big man! But no, we couldn't wait for her...she was no where in sight. sigh, i hope she'll like do one more performance or something. She's graduating! I won't get another chance! I'll never forget the day I fell in love with her/her playing man. In 2004 in UCC when she played a Piaganini concerto. She plays exquisitely!
Sigh...hopefully I'll get my picture one day...

you know you love me

Just a little observation:
About 90% of NUS law school professors graduated from Oxford/Cambridge/Harvard law school.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007 @8:09 pm

One of them picks up a twig.
How perfect it was!
It would fit just perfectly
Smoothly in it'll slide
All he wants to do
Was to fly back home with it
He imagined it'd be a breeze
Especially with the slight breeze blowing
But no!
They too spyed the twig
It was too perfect a twig
They will NOT let him off
Each wanted it for his own
They would fight for all they're worth
Off clambered the 3 of them
Flitter flapper went their limbs
Giving their all
Vying for the twig
One of them cocked his head
He was going to have it
He picked up the twig left lying on the ground
While the rest squibbled and squabbled
And off he flew to his humble nest
-Birds are quarrelsome creatures.
