Today, full of optimism and condidence leftover from fun-o-rama, I set out to sell bears for MINDS.
9.30am: I arrived at somerset mrt.
9.45: We set off for the Istana. I figured that since it was open house today, we wouldn't have a very hard time selling our bears.
10.15: We get chased away from Istana by a policemen. "We don't want people to think that Singapore is so______"
We start walking towards city hall.
10.40: I decide to go disturb mrs yim. Stood outside the performance hall listening to her practice a mozart accompaniement.
10.50: She donates $2. Tells me its benyen's birthday, and that he's at swensens.
10.58: Turns out that swensens isn't open yet and he has decided to skip church to play lan. Coerced him into oweing me $10 for a bear.
11.00: Started hanging around St. Andrews. Sold 1 bear, got $8 donation.
11.10: Saw aunty karen and uncle siew fei and zachary and zaphan. She bought 2 bears! :D
11.30: Got chased out of St. Andrews by this woman. (I'm hoping that she's nice enough to write to Mrs Chan.)
11.35: Hung around Raffles City. Had 2 bears left. Asked about 50 people before selling the last one at around noon.
oh yes, 11.45: This group of american women said, "Oh, I'm sorry, but we don't have change, we only have cards."
12.05: Sold Ruth's last bear for her while she went to buy a drink.
12.15: Challenged jian shen to sell his last bear by 12.30.
12.27: He sells his bear.
12.30: I pass my $ to him and run off home.
Conclusion: Selling bears for charity is not a good idea. They simply sit and collect dust. Plus, $10 per bear is too expensive.
Its also not a good idea to have more than 5 people asking for money for charity in the same area. As someone being approached by them, I get really irritated. I can't believe I just did that today.
national day week. I shall be nice and say, Happy Birthday Singapore.
Project work. Rushing written report.
Promos. Have to start studying.
you know you love me
