Lets see...what can I write about? Over this past week I had alot of things I wanted to blog about, but I never had the time to get down to it and now all the inspiration has flown away...
Like the many opportunities that come your way, but if you don't grab them while they're there, they just fade away into oblivion.
Today was ARTs day. I thought it was really good. I went for a total of 3 talks.
1) Lawyer Dance: about this top Harvard law student who does classical indian dance. a lawyer by day and a dancer by night ;) That is really super zai. Her work is really beautiful. She quite her job to go to India to learn more about dance, and we could tell that it was really an enriching experience for her. I thought she could have injected more life into her voice though. She only came alive after she danced for us to a song by Madonna. Before that she kept saying how much fun she had, how excited she was about her work, but her voice was really dead. I also don't really agree with her ideal that you work to persue your passion. I feel that if you're really passionate about something, it can become your work. And in any case, even if that cannot happen, you should still have a good mindset towards your work and not treat it as something to support your hobby.
2) A talk by one of the founders of Kinetic. This advertising company. They have a really cool website.
www.kinetic.com.sg I think their company philosophy and concepts are very interesting. Its really creative and out of the box. They should do a project for MOE! moe needs more interesting ways of projecting their campaigns! Go look at some of their works and you'll know what I mean. Man, I wanna work in that company! Good work good fun :D
3) Went for the short film thingie which my dear mortal was ic of ;) They were screening Wee Li Lin's flims. I thought her films were pretty interesting. All of them have very unique endings. Unique as in unique from all the normal endings. Not your typical film endings...hers kinda leaves this hanging, and you'll have to think for a while. My favourite was "Autograph Book". Everyone who went to Primary School in Singapore or have treasured friends should watch that. That woman is pretty talented, and she's a nice lady too ;) Maybe I'll be inspired actually get down to making my own films after dreaming and talking about them so much with my CCC? haha
The rest of arts day was really cool too. I never knew there was such a talented manga artist in one of our teachers. Also arts club displayed some really cool art. I was a bit paiseh to ask, but if those works displayed had price tags on them I'd have bought one. Also there was the SAF pop band, there was this balloon making and fire eating fellow...some other rock bands...overall the whole thing was really cool!
But in the afternoon was the Dr Fatimah Lateef talk which was not so cool. Its not cool when your guest arrives early, your teachers have to go entertain her, you see a super low turn out and have to run around to school begging and dragging people to come for the talk so it doesn't look too bad. In the end it was just alright. The talk was pretty interesting though. And in the end, all the questions were from moi! Sigh...lol
And to spoil my afternoon even more!
Alright, so that was my day.
I need to start mugging :D
And doing the blasted coursework.
And start blogging about nice things!
:D
Arts day was really really cool :D
oo, i forgot to mention that I got a balloon bracelet! :D
hee!

The first part of this post is gonna be like an AQ question with respect to Jiayi's (tan) post about friends. She says that she's not really bothered with maintaining long-term friendships, but will just cherish present ones and forge new ones as time goes on. While I think this is very practical and saves alot of effort, one also misses out on alot of lovely times this way. Theres no such thing as "if we so happen to become bosom buddies". It doesn't "so happens"; you have to help it happen. Okay, maybe it can so happen if you always end up in the same place at whichever point in your lives. You attend the same schools, work in the same companies, in the same department, live in the same area etc. But of course, I can very confidantly say that that NEVER happens. So you do need to consiously or unconsiously keep your friendships going. You can't live your whole life with aqquaintances with whom you just "brush shoulders". That not how this thing called 'friendship' works. To many this might seem weird coming from me, seeing as I don't really have many 'bosom buddies' in school. Well, maybe actually only 1, and thats because of circumstances; we so happen to be in the same school again after 4 years. Okay, 1 goodest friend and a couple of good friends. That is not to say that I do not value the other friendships I have. Its just that everyone else already have their own 'cliques' and I don't really have the need to be your best friend. Okay, in this aspect I'll have to agree with jiayi. I enjoy spending time with other people, I feel comfortable with different cliques and I enjoy going out with my class. But perhaps because I always spend so much time in the com lab and in the library reading and none of us really have the lock and key to click with each other that I'm none of your 'best friend'. That said, I'm grateful for all the friends I have, all the people I've met (in and outside school). Whether we're close or not, you're still a treasured friend ;)
Okay, that wasn't a very good AQ...oh well...Next, I'm gonna talk about another GP related issue. During GP today, we were looking out of the window down onto the roadside at little ngee ann kids running towards the canal on their tiny little legs, their excited laughter and chatter clearly heard in our 4th floor classroom. It then dawned upon us that it was about 10 years ago when we were like them. A few years ago, I'd never imagine I'd be saying things about myself "10 years ago". It feels so old now that I can actually say "10 years ago..." this and that happened to me. Its actually a decade! Its scary when you remember alot of your life "10 years ago". Thank God its another 10 years before I have to face my new found ability to talk about "20 years ago..."
Enough about depressing stuff. Lets see...what have I to rejoice about? My CT grades? Okay, 2 of my subjects were relatively alright...but on average, my 3 subjects aren't. Maybe I'll be happy overall if I get at least a C for GP? Is that even a realistic expectation?
Herr S is starting to grate on my nerves a little...
Oops, more depressing stuff.
Ok, I more or less love the weather these few days. At least the sun is not burning and theres usually a sweet breeze blowing.
This term is gonna be an exciting term: soccer...all the sports comps...etc... :D
okie, I ended on a happy note le.
ciao!

Ah, I wanted to write this post yesterday, but I fell asleep. Hee. Okay here goes:
Its Thursday already...almost 4 days of the first week of school gone.
Much of my week have been spent on German Day and getting back CT results.
Well, let me talk about the horrigible CTs first.
Maths...well...I got even lower marks than my J1 Mid year results! And that was 33! This time its 32!!! I actually expected something like 40+...sigh..oh well...gotta do more questions!
Bio: about the same as promos...got 60...but had to beg for marks..supposed to be good...but I thought I could have done better. But suppose with the amount of studying I did I've nothing much to complain about.
Chem: 58. Going to bed for marks to get 60 later. Hopefully Mr Shi is nice. Poor fellow, he was sick on his Bday on Monday and has been silent for 2 days already. I suppose considering that it was about 65% studying I shouldn't complain either.
I want to take H3! I think As are really useless without H3! Everyone is gonna get As, and even if you flunk your H3, scholarship boards won't mind. All they're gonna see is that you've gota a H3 and I don't! Maybe I should have tried harder and appealed for Bio H3 after promos with Mrs Foo last year. Do what I did to get my 10 O level subjects...oh well...and my CCA record kinda sucks...grrr
Okay, enough about CTs. I shall go on to German Day (which totally ROCKED!)
Okay, let me write something that most people will understand. Anyway, I ponned like 2 days of lessons for German Day! Aren't you impressed at my dedication! Haha. Okay, not exactly 2 whole days, but all lessons after 12nn on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday: Went to the factory to get the 5 bags of heavy heavy T shirts with Andreas. They gave us money for cab fare since they didn't deliver it to us. We tried to be geikiang, carry the bags to the road side instead of calling for a cab. Took forever and ended up with scratched arms. Lol. At moelc, I actually wanted to set up stuff, do a run through of whats gonna happen etc, but stratomeier had lessons, so we couldn't. he said he'll set up everything on wednesday by himself from 9am. Okay, fine. save us the sai kang :p
Wednesday: left schoo, rushed to moelc and realised we were the last the reach! the J1s and even NJC were there already! Oh well.
So there went the last minute rushes, and the curtain was up. The first round was a bit shakey. Probably because it was the first run and the 'crowd' wasn't really a crowd. The 2nd time was much better. NJC did a really funny skit: a fusion of 3 fairy tales (snow white/little red riding hood/princess n the frog). Activities in the canteen were really well received. I must say everyone really did a great job.
Yay! 1 successful event this year already! (after the disappointing talenttime :p, actually, nomb)
this is very long already. Congratulations if you actually read this far.

bis bald!

School starts tomorrow. Hols will be over in 20 hours. I must say I have totally enjoyed this March holidays. I think its the best school holiday I've had in 2 years. Nothing beats slacking and spending time with you bestest friends.
The first 3 days were spent completely at drama. I must say I was pretty impressed with the kids' improvement at first. But after the first huge jump, it became stagnant again. People, look: I know its getting really tiring spending like 60% of your life in drama sessions now, but you cannot loose steam! It'll be too late when the nerves get to you in the last week and you starting chionging like siao. You're risking the existence of your cca. Do buck up!
My favourite day was Thursday. Morning was spent at the dentist's. I now have rubber bands in my mouth to realign my jaw...hurpmh...Dr. Koh graduating soon...and apparently my braces will be out around the same time she graduates! how nice, haha.
Afternoon was spent with my 2 dd friends at vivo. I reached super early, so went to walk around to see what there was to eat first. At noon, i went back to the station and was just looking out for fishball. I assumed the other dd would be super late (and she was!) so didn't bother looking out for her. Mr fishball was late for 8 minutes! Okay, nvm, suppose its time i wait since i'm usually the one late. But that woman beats us all man...think she was late for like 40 minutes again! Anyway, we bought our food from 'miao kou xiao chi' and drinks from the hypermart. And then we had ueberdelicioius delectable desserts from beardpapa.
Talking about food, I brought the CCC to Thaipan earlier in the week. Twice! haha. The laoban should give me commission man :p
After lunch, we went to watch dreamgirls. It was pretty good, though I thought they sang so much that it should be categorised as 'musical' instead. And I though Jennifer Hudson screamed too much too. I kinda really dislike that black screaming voice. Theres this distinct sound that comes from african americans, and some of it sounds really nice, but when they start crescendoing and trying to drag their notes, it really sounds like they're screaming and its really really unpleasant to the ears. But otherwise, the songs are nice, and beyonce rox.
Some aunty was supposed to study after that. But we ended up going to the roof to take pictures and playing in the playground. The stuff there are like those in Fred's condo. And after that, I thought she'd at last get down to studying. But nooo...we went shopping instead! Haha, but at least she started studying like weeks ago...whereas I had alot more topics to study for and had only 1 week to cover everything.
I think thats about it.
Music and lyrics rocks too! Hugh grant...oolala
hee
school's starting
time to be a super mugger!

haha, i just pestered yinghui to update, so i myself must update too. heehee
anyway...talenttime is over..i think i sucked as emcee...grrr...
ha, i always knew there was a reason other than scholarships that i joined the speech course!
most people thoroughly enjoyed talenttime. i think thats great! haha. maybe it didn't compare with previous years', but it wasn't as bad as it seemed that time..I must say the student's efforts especially Rachel's were very impressive and commendable. Well done guys!
hurmph...mrs tan said something that made be resolve never to go back cchms for anything ever again aft my syf 'commitments' are over and done with! gah! (tho i still wanna relief teach after As...hurmph...)
common tests are over too!
i'm really gonna make the most of my march hols before i become a nerdy recluse. hopefully i become one. i need to become one. haha.
I want a scholarship!!!
hmm...but i dun even know what i wanna do...
i used to be so sure that medicine was the only thing i was gonna do...
but now that i've seen more of the world (haha), there are so many more options and i'm thinking those options might actually be viable...
how can i want to do so many things?!?!? what do i really really wanna do? hurmph...
gah...
okay, i've blogged. haha

i haven't heard from you in ages la!
Friday, March 09, 2007 @8:41 am
I went running!
So nice! haha....
At last managed to drag myself out.
I stink now.
Saw a bunch of stuck up middleage on old men riding bicycles who think they own the road! So pissed to see them.
Talenttime later.
Hope its not screwed. Haha, but then it never is :p
Comparing Mr Tan and Mr Loh is akin to comparing Mrs Chan and Mr Chan.
The latter in both are rsaf too!
to be continued. lol

OMG, I lurve Mrs Chan and all the J3s...haha.
Not that any of them would be reading my blog, but thanks for going up to tweedle and telling him "you know what to do on Monday..." Hopefully they will all attend future victories for VJ and tell him the same thing again :D
The first part of assembly was damn farney, all announcements which required people to meet went like "meet after so and so minutes after dismissal" so like obviously there was going to be early dismissal. Tan Yew Hwee's was the funniest! His expression and response was hilarious.
But after that, assembly was a drag. tweedle aka rsaf was funny for a while, but as he tried to create "anticipation" and "keep us in suspense" for too long,it became really irritating. Also, he had to give his famous long winded "words of wisdom" before he could give his "golden announcement". So what used to be done in 1 minute in the past was only done in 10 minutes today. Grrr...
Okay, nevermind. I'm aiming to finish Bio today.
So MUST go mug now.
ciao!

Omg! I got an early morning surprise! Okay, maybe not that early...but halfway through Bio lecture, we heard over the PA, "This is Mrs Chan speaking..." Everyone was like 'huh?!...did someone say something wrong?'...but it was a female voice and after a while we realised that it was our beloved Mrs Chan come back. Haha. By then she was already telling us about the wonderful 50% 3&4 As, so we had no time to comment.
I hung around after school to keipo about the results. Sean n Jermain got 4As lar...the muggers...haha, I also want!
Thank god tweedle passed the mic to Mrs Chan who took over the 'release' of the results. So nice to see and hear her again. For a while all I could hear was "omg..we've missed her so much etc. etc."
fm fred's blog:"MRS CHAN ROX MORE!! She came back today, announced the results, and said, in front of Mr Chan, "to all the year 1s and 2s, you know what's the traddition right? So on monday when Mr chan announces the results to the rest of the school, what must you all demand for? " AND EVERYBODY SAYS... "FULL DAY!!!!!!" omg i love VJC. I love Mrs Chan."
After a while we went down to talk to her. Haha, after telling her how much we miss her we got a hug. Lol. but aww...she had tears in her eyes...then she was saying how much she misses us...how she thinks about vj everyday...
we were like complaining no more fun...blahblah...then she said she'll purposely come back more n ask him wheres the fun . lol. She rox!!!
grrr...why did she had to leave anyway...couldn't moe have like promoted her this year instead of last year! gah...
oh well...at least we got to see her again! n she said she intends to come back for the sports matches and other college events :D
VJ did well lar...comparable to previous years though...nothing fantastic...but I'm wondering how on earth we're gonna match up to their standard...
already dying for common tests!
I can't believe it! RJ actually got an increase of 300 3&4 As! That is a frikin lot!
HCI isn't far behind...
VJ is still 3rd...but a long way from RJ and HCI!
sigh...ah well...at least I've now got a renewed motivation to study!
I wanna see my name on a piece of paper outside the GO next year!

OMG, I've just wasted another day away! (definition of wasting: not doing sufficient studying)
I went to school having mugged for SPA, only to find out that due to unfortunate circumstances, it has been postponed to next term.
I find that I forgot to bring my wallet, thus I have to borrow $ to go home.
Home I went to zzz and study Group VII.
To CCHMS for Drama.
To MOELC for German (where we spent the whole 2 hours discussing german day)
And then home to the oscars until now.
There...the only productive part was the studying of Group VII. (again definition of productive: effective studying)
Theres a huge difference hearing about tragic events that don't concern you and having it happen in your own backyard. Its kinda surreal...and makes you think about things.
Coming home to watch the oscars, I saw how many people having dedicated their lives to a single vocation. (no pun intended, but a material one at that) All the people in the Kodak Theatre on Sunday night have achieved success in the entertainment industry and were there to celebrate and recognise each other's success. It's amazing how film can touch lives and how celebrities can influence and inspire.
-This old non-english speaking fellow who got an oscar for (life time composing? i think) dedicated his award to the many other composers out there who slog day and night and yet their achievements never get recognised.
-Helen Mirren shared her "gold star" with all the other best actress nominees. That was really sweet of her.
-The late Robert Altman got a round of resounding applause when his tribute was played.
This industry is a powerful one. But one where sacrifices have to be made in order to succeed...
