I'm back from Copenhagen! Having been to so many other places, Copenhagen was still something new altogether. It felt very foreign. It was such a vast place, with enormous buildings, wide empty streets and a people who more or less busied themselves with their own activities. These added to the very strange and foreign language somehow gave me a rather russian feel. Oh not forgetting the biting cold too! Maybe it was because I knew German and the teeniest bit of French that I didn't feel this way in Zurich and Paris. And maybe it was because I've had a fair bit of exposure to Japanese culture through the media that I didn't feel like that in Nagoya (though Japan would probably be as foreign as it can get for most people). This time, I haven't had any prior exposure to Denmark at all. Perhaps danish pasteries is about as much of Denmark as I know.
Albeit the strangeness, it was still a very good trip (with my aunt who came down from germany too :) ).
I was kind of surprised that the danish spoke very good english. (that would be as compared to other europeans I've come across)
Best food there? Hotdogs from the many stands that dot the streets.
The evening I came back, I went all the way to the other end of Singapore to watch a soccer watch between Singapore and Vietnam. I reached there as the match started only to find that all tickets were sold out. So being the ingenious people we were (Cecilia, Eric and I), we climbed to the 10th storey of a nearby HDB flat and had a birdeye view of the whole game, though we had to stand the whole time. There were unfortunately many others with the same idea, so we had to share our perch with a bunch of smelly and noisy guys. It was eye opening to see the lenghts that people would go to watch the game. There were people atop of lorries and vans, up in trees etc. Quite a sight.
Skating!
I love my spiral. Hopefully one day, I'll be able to do it as well as Michelle Kwan :)
I think I've finally gotten my waltz jump right.
I'm quite comfortable with my half flip.
Managed to sort of do a salchow and a toe loop yesterday :)
Still have to work on my very inconsistent spins.
Skating is a great deal of fun, let me know when you wanna come with moi :)
