I was just sitting at my balcony for the past 20 minutes, hoping to catch a bit of the meteor shower. I didn't see a single shooting star. But no matter, the memories of the meteors I saw at Male are enough for now :)
But while sitting out there, I thought about several things.
1) I hadn't stepped onto my balcony for years! It's really quite nice and breezy (sometimes anyway)
2) At first sight, there aren't many stars visible (considering Singapore's horrible light pollution!). The longer you stare, the more time you take to look, as your eyes starts to adjust to the night sky, the fainter stars start to appear. The originally sparsely spotted sky now starts to look like a beautiful star lit sky.
Sometimes, we just need to slow down and take the time to look.
3) As you gaze at the sky, you notice that clouds will go by, and then you get a little annoyed that they're obscuring your view of the stars. But shift your attention away from the 'task' at hand, and you'll notice lots of interesting things about the cloud too. And as the cloud moves away, you'll see that the stars you were looking at are still there, and it might even reveal stars you had earlier failed to notice.
4) While waiting to see shooting stars, I was wondering what I'd wish for if I did see one; many things flitted across my mind, but nothing really of importance. Law school picked me, I'm not having any regrets, but I think it's time I picked my path instead of continuing to see what comes my way.
Currently, my short term goals are:
-to see as much of my old friends as possible
-to continue my musical education in some way
-to make new friends in school
-to find a worthwhile CIP to spend my time on
-to be a chao mugger
As for long term goals, I think I want:
-to do well in school and get into a glamourous law firm :) [as superficial as it sounds]
In JC, I got distracted from my earlier goal of becoming a doctor by the lure of 'the arts'. It was a fruitless distraction and detraction. While its good to explore other options and be open minded, instincts are still the best.
Though life should also be a mixture of surprises and planned procedures.
On another note, I've been seeing quite a bit of Ceci this past 'week before school starts' :D
